Town of Supetar on island of Brac in Dalmatia

Welcome to Supetar!
With its 3500 inhabitants Supetar is the biggest settlement on the island of Brac. Supetar is situated on the north side of the island of Brac, in the bay of St. Peter after whom it was named at. Supetar today is one of the main tourist resorts in Dalmatia. With excellent ferry connection with Split, Supetar is an ideal destination for all those who want to enjoy the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of the island of Brac.
Cultural heritage of Supetar includes; church of the Annunciation (18th century) with a bell tower and the church museum, early Christian mosaics from 16th century and the present church that was built on the foundations of an early Christian basilica dedicated to St. Peter. The valley of Supetar is dominated by white dome of Petrinovic family mausoleum, located on the cemetery next to the church of St. Nicholas. Beside it, there are two early Christian sarcophagi, and below the cemetery there are the remains of the Roman 'villa rusticate'. Above Supetar there are a total of 19 preserved early Romanesque churches on the island. The church of St. Luke (11th century) is famous for the oldest surviving depiction of a ship in Dalmatia, which is engraved on the wall inside the church.
Around Supetar, usually in the olive groves, vineyards and elsewhere on the island, you'll notice a number of field stone houses with round-shaped roof
In this little town you can enjoy all kinds of gastronomical manifestations like now famous 'Days of beet and broad bean' where you can enjoy the local specialties of naturally grown foods. Also, you have to taste domestic lamb, cheese and olive oil from island of Brac.
