Bay of Stoncica on island of Vis in Dalmatia

The island of Vis, with its geographical position belongs to middle group of the islands of Dalmatian archipelago. The island is 45 km away from the mainland and 18 km from the nearest town on the island of Hvar from which is separated by a wide Vis channel. The island has surface of 90 km2 and a population of approximately 4000 inhabitants. The island of Vis has two major cities, Vis and Komiza, together with many small villages and hamlets.
Stoncica Bay is located on the east side of the island, three nautical miles eastern from the port of Vis.
Stoncica Bay has some dozen houses and is reachable by newly built road that leads from the town of Vis over the location Kuta to the area above the bay, from where the footpath leads down to the houses and the beach.
Stoncica Bay has a beautiful beach surrounded by thick Mediterranean vegetation and the crystal clear sea. The beach is different from most other beaches on the island of Vis and in general on the Adriatic because it is a sandy beach. The underwater area has extremely slight decrease making that even on the 30m distance from the shore the sea level is rather low and you are in water maybe up till your waist. These conditions are ideal for children and for non-swimmers who could have issues with great depths.
